Free Kauai Activities

Here is a list of Free Things To Do on Kauai.  Miles of whir sand beaches, hiking trails, and beautiful Kauai attractions are among the dozens of activities to choose from.

  1. Farmers Markets: Weekly farmers markets island-wide sell locally grown produce, exotic tropical fruits and flowers, and locally made products.
  2. Hanapepe Art Night     Enjoy exploring the many galleries,s demonstrations, performances, and local cuisine as you stroll the streets of historic Hanapepe Town. Hanapepe Town comes alive every Friday night with local artists, musicians, and ethnic eats. Every Friday Evening from 6:00-9:00 pm.
  3. Lei Making Workshop: Reservation required. Contact the West Kauai Technology Center at 808-338-1322.
  4. 88 Shrines at Lawai International Center. Short video and storytelling by Lynn Murumoto on the second and last Saturday of the month. Tour Times: 10:00 am -12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Call 808 639-4300. Donations Accepted.
  5. Old Town Kapaa Art Walk: Free live music, artists, tasty food, and entertainment every 1st Saturday of the month in downtown Kapaa. 5:30 -8:30 Contact 808 635-4964
  6. Kauai Museum offers Free guided tours with the cost of admission. 10:30 am on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Ohana Saturdays – Free admission on the first Saturday of the month.
  7. Hula Shows. Most visitors to Kauai include a luau in their top things to do list. If hula dancing and Hawaiian music are on your list, here is a chance to get a little preview. If you just can’t get enough of the melodic beat and swaying of hips, check out one of the following free Hula shows around the island.

Take in traditional Hawaiian music, hula and Fire Knife Dancing at our free show, featuring Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low and Halau Hula ʻO Leilani at our outdoor amphitheater! Halau Hula ʻO Leilani will take you on a musical journey from the past to the present and the dancers’ colorful dress and fragrant lei will leave you in awe.

Many people outside of The Isles of the Sea may have never seen Hula accompanied by live Hawaiian Music. Those who know Hula only from television and have listened to Hawaiian Musical recordings, have just barely scratched the surface. At Poʻipu Shopping Village, join us on an exciting journey through over a thousand years of rich tradition.  A well-renowned Hawaii musician, Keola Worthington, shall sing and share stories from humorous or of Hawaii old and new, accompanied by the award-winning gracious Hula maidens of a school of Hula, Halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina`ala.

The show is located at center stage and open to the public.
