auai is blessed with great weather year round! A perfect destination anytime you find a chance to hop on a plane and leave Kansas behind! The cooler months are November – May (70 – 85 degrees) July through October are our warmer months (78 – 90 degrees)
The balmy tradewinds often deliver with some early morning and evening rain showers to the windward and mauka (mountains) areas. Remember “no rain , no rainbows!”

Kauai Activities suggests mid morning or late afternoon flights, they usually offer sightseers the best lighting for viewing and photography of the dramatic scenery. Kauai weather is very unpredictable, which makes it even more exciting, as a little rain may bring out some beautiful rainbows!

When is Peak Season on Kauai?
Our peak visitor season from the U.S. and Canada is between Thanksgiving and Easter, with the busiest time during the Christmas and New Year holidays as well as the summer months (July and August).
If you want to avoid the buisier time of year, a good option might be May-June or September-October.
When is the best time of year for whale watching around Kauai?
Whale watching season is our favorite time of year! The majestic humpback whales can show up as early as October, but official whale season begins in December and the whales are usually on their way back to Alaska by the end of April. If you want to see the newborn calves and catch the best breaching aerial show, then February-March is prime! It is not a time to miss! Note- Dolphin watching season is year-round!

All companies that offer snorkeling around Kauai will give you a personal demonstration on the use of their snorkel equipment. If you are on a snorkel tour they will provide you with all of your snorkel gear all the snorkel lessons that you wish and many different types of flotation devices to make you feel comfortable in the water. Usually the snorkel companies will put a lifeguard in the water with you. Kauai Activities offers free snorkel maps and advice on use and best locations depending on your experience level.
Where do the whales migrate from?
Each year, humpback whales migrate from the cool waters in Alaska to the warm-water breeding grounds in Hawaii. The whales don’t arrive all at once. Their numbers gradually increase as winter approaches.
