Swim Kauai Aquatics (SKA) was founded to teach swimming skills our Kauai children and adults. Swim KAuai is a club that encourages physical fitness and competition through USA Swimming organized events. SKA teaches swim technique, strokes, discipline through conditioning and goal setting, fun and teamwork, while emphasizing friendship and competition. Our club swims at the Lihue YMCA `Ohana Aquatic center in Lihue. We support the YMCA learn to swim programs and other water sports like water polo, diving and ocean swimming. We also sponsor high school swimming and we are a USMS registered (masters) program. Join Us Today!
Where and when are the practices? Are you looking for a way to exercise and and a some great fun? We have swimmers of all levels and we strongly encourage anyone to come join our workouts and instruction. Swim Kauai has five age group programs. Each program is designed to challenge the swimmer to the best of their ability. Swim Kauai Aquatics uses a “progressive” age group program designed to develop the child physically, mentally, and emotionally in a systematic fashion. The emphasis in the early stages of participation must be placed on developing technical skills and a love for the sport. In the later years, a more demanding physical and psychological challenge must be introduced to the training programs. Specific goals and objectives set toward meeting the needs of the swimmer. Every child is different and he/she will progress at his/her own rate. The coaching staff recognizes this fact by making team assignments based on a swimmer’s physical, mental, and emotional level of development. Bronze Group This group is our pre-competitive and our first competitive swim group that strives to introduce swimmers to basic stroke technique, individual medley concepts, drill progression and basic aerobic development. There are two levels in the bronze group (Sea Turtles and Dolphins). These levels are set by age and ability by the swim coaches. Practice Schedule / Fees Days: MON-TUE-THU-FRI Time: 3:30 - 4:15 PM Membership Dues: $40 per month
Silver Group The Silver group is a competitive age group level. Our goal is to take our basic aerobic development to a new level. We want to maintain our solid stroke technique while beginning training for middle distance races. Practice Schedule / Fees Days: MON-TUE-WED-THU-FRI Time: 4:15 - 5:15 PM Membership Dues: $50 per month
Gold Group The Gold group is a competitive age group level that strives to introduce swimmers to the next level of training, competition and instruction. Our goal is to build up the aerobic level with an emphasis on middle distance races. We train all four strokes and further develop kicking strength. We also introduce the concept of dry-land conditioning. Practice Schedule / Fees Days: MON-TUE-WED-THU-FRI Time (M-F): 4:15 - 5:45 PM Membership Dues: $60 per month
Junior Group The Junior group is our transitional group at the SKA. We recommend this group for swimmers who are looking to make the transition from age group swimming to senior swimming, or who are looking to enter / re-enter the sport at a later age. The basic goals are to introduce lactate training, increase muscular endurance and develop the maximum aerobic base. Practice Schedule / Fees Days: MON-TUE-WED-THU-FRI-SAT Time (M-F): 3:30 - 5:30 PM Time (SAT): 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Membership Dues: $65 per month
Senior Group The Senior group is our most competitive age group level. We recommend this group for swimmers who are looking for a full commitment to the sport of swimming. Our goal is to develop a maximum aerobic base and introduce lactate training, muscular endurance and advance training techniques. We also introduce nutrition to the training regiment. Practice Schedule / Fees Days: MON-TUE-WED-THU-FRI-SAT Time (M-F): 3:30 - 6:00 PM Time (SAT): 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM Membership Dues: $75 per month

Great program!Swim Kauai Aquatics is an awesome program for kids ages 5-18. It is a year round competitive swim team, ranging from beginning to National Level qualifiers. Coaches have qualified at the Olympic Trials and are still very active in the sport You can just drop in if you are a visitor, and pay a $5 daily fee to use the YMCA facilities and swim with the team. Beautiful outdoor pool centrally located in Lihue. My children have swam with this team for 5 years and love it. Aloha.... |
