Kalapaki Beach Hut has a long history of being one of Kauai's favorite local eateries. Our first location in Anahola opened in 1973 using our kitchen table as a counter, home refrigerator and an outdoor char broiler, we launched out and soon became a popular stop when coming and going from Hanalei. Meals were enjoyed outside under the lovely umbrella of a Royal Poinsettia Tree. Locals proclaimed our burgers ono-licious so the name Ono Char-Burgers was born.
In 1979, the lobby of the old Pono Theater was transformed into a homey, family style atmosphere decorated with our family’s antiques. 1981 brought Hurricane Iwa across our paths. The restaurant that had been attached to the theater now became a free standing building. With friends, family and dedicated employees, we were able to rebuild and go on as The Ono Family Restaurant. It became Kauai‘s first restaurant to promote and add Hanalei raised buffalo meat to the menu.
In 1990, Kalapaki Beach Hut opened in Nawiliwili as Kalapaki Beach Burgers. As time went on, our menu evolved to include a variety of burgers, sandwiches and a delicious breakfast menu. In order to reflect this expanded menu, the name was changed to Kalapaki Beach Hut. We continue to offer you the very best in quality, service, local products and environmentally responsible items. All of our menu items can be taken to go or enjoyed in our casual outdoor setting.
Aloha,
Steve and Sharon Gerald

Best "local" atmosphere
We have lived on Kauai for 12 years, have a boat at the harbor and every time we are heading for an outing on boat or going to beach, we stop for a quick convenient breakfast or lunch and sit up stairs and View the Bay
