Jack and the Beanstalk Bronze Sculpture at Na Aina Kai Children’s Garden

I already knew that Na Aina Kai was the ultimate playground for kids on Kauai. What’s not to like about a 60 foot Jack and the Beanstalk sculpture surrounded by a wading pool with alternating fountains? While this one feature commands 90% of children’s attention, a child-sized hedge maze, two log cabins, a giant tree house and swinging bridge, a full sized wooden train, life-sized bronze hippopotamus, jungle garden and play structure will keep them entertained for the other 50%. Oh, did I forget to mention the Navaho garden, complete with slick rock and covered wagon…wait that is 140%. That means a guaranteed nap on the way home! How can it get better than that?

Well, it can in fact. A Halloween costume party in the garden. Once again Na Aina Kai will feature an evening of goblins, goodies and games. Thank You Na Aina Kai!  Last years event was very impressive. The event was practically over-staffed with friendly volunteers and docents to guide you to your parking space, help you to the entrance, paint the children’s faces, hand out candy and pretzels, and engage children in fun Halloween games, all of which ended with a prize. You know an event is good when your child ignores the candy!

All children and adults were supplied with spider rings and glow necklaces upon entry. These came in quite handy when the sun went down because a special garden loop maze was erected just for this event and it came alive after dark. Blinking pumpkins, glowing ghosts, bats and spiders lined the walkway and the occasional spook jumped out from the dark to enhance the overall experience. Nothing too scary for the little ones though, and all was lighted with multicolor glow sticks and twinkle lights. What a great event! Hope to see you there! Event Info
