Climate and Weather

When it comes to perfection, the weather and climate on Kauai are about as close as you can get.   The island of  Kauai’s latitude, unique geographical features, and cool trade winds conspire to create the most ideal climate on the face of the planet.  Kauai is subtropical despite what its latitude would indicate.  Humidity and temperatures are not as extreme as you would find in a true tropical environment.  Coastline  temperatures average around 75degrees in winter  with  spring and summer months averaging around 80 degrees.   The summer and spring seasons are ideal for visiting Kauai, however Fall And Winter are less crowded.   Higher elevations, like  Kokee State Park which at 3,600 feet will be about 10 degrees cooler than the day at the beach.

How much does it rain on Kauai? The west side of Kauai also known as the dry side sees less than 20 inches a rain a year with the north shore receiving an average of 45 inches of rain a year.  Mount Waialeale is known as the wettest spot on Earth with a mere 450 inches of rain a year.  Don’t worry even if it is raining at the highest peak on the island you will always find sunshine along the coast.  Kauai’s weather stays consistently moderate throughout the year because of the wonderful trade winds that blow from the northeast at 5 -15 mph keeping  Kauai pleasant even on days when the temperatures and humidity rise above the 80’s.
